New Underwear Bra

For many women, a new underwear bra is something to be excited about, but how about one so revolutionary in deign, that its actually fits under the skin?

The world’s first titanium bra, designed to be worn under the skin, has been invented by a German doctor. In fact, it is actually implant cups of titanium mesh which fit under the breast and act the same as a bra, without the material, or fitting discomfort. The mesh weighs just 35g and is the same thickness as a net curtain.

Dr Ziya Saylan, who apart from when inventing bras is the President of the European Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, claims that the technique of attaching the implants to the patient’s ribs and muscle, will create breasts which look youthful and with an invisible, healthy looking lift.

And many women have already opted for the pioneering technique, which costs nearly £5,000. Most of them are aged between 30 and 45 and have developed sagging breasts after having children. Anyone over 45 might not be suitable for the operation, because they may have already lost some necessary elasticity in their skin.

Dr Saylan states that the big advantage with these implants is that a woman need never wear a bra again. He points out that titanium is ideally suited to the job, because not only is it very strong (it won’t sag itself), it will never cause an allergic rejection within the body because it is inert.

The titanium bra is often fitted at the same time as silicone implants which increase the size of the breasts. The operation is performed under general anaesthetic and take around one and a half hours to complete.

The procedure starts with a cut around each nipple. A space is then made between the breast’s glandular tissue and the fat under the skin, into which the implants are inserted. Then, the titanium mesh is put into place and moulded to create an appropriate cup size. At first, the implant is held in place by stitches, but these eventually disable as the mesh becomes integrated with the flesh.

Once the procedure is complete, it is reckoned that a week later the patient will be back to full fitness. Scarring is minimal and disguised around the nipple area.

On the upside, Dr Saylan claims that the patient will quickly forget the mesh is there, and that the breasts will look firmer and higher, because the breast flesh fits into the cups created by the titanium bra.

He claims that there are many benefits of being bra less, citing the fact that studies have concluded that bras can suppress a woman’s lymphatic system, effectively blocking vessels that are vital for flushing toxins out of the body.

But doctors have urged caution. Some claim that titanium meshes have been shown to lead to tissue fibrosis, causing lumps and bumps in the skin. Also, they can erode, and the mesh can work through the skin and eventually start to poke through.

Furthermore, some doctors have warned that having such a mesh in place could cause problems when it comes to mammograms and ultrasound scans, and cancer diagnosis techniques.

So, the titanium mesh bra seems at first a great idea, but any person opting for such a procedure would have to weigh the every day benefits, with possible adverse long-term health implications.
